This is a sponsored post. I received a free pass to the event in return for featuring it on my site.
Halloween and horror convention season is here. Did you know that late spring and into the summer is the prime time for these events?
I have a whole list of more Halloween-centric options, if you’ve never delved into this world. Admittedly, I was never a “con” person until I attended my first Midsummer Scream. And ever since then, I’ve loved checking out any Halloween conventions I can get myself to.
Now that I’m in the upper Midwest, I have the chance to check out a ton of new-to-me options, and Midwest Haunters Convention (MHC) was at the very top of my list.
I was honored when they reached out in April and asked if I would consider joining their Halloween Hub this year! You’ll find me hanging around there, likely with Melissa from Splash of Spooky, throughout the day when I’m not wandering the floor and taking everything in.
Speaking of which, here are the three things I’m MOST interested in checking out at this year’s event.
FRIDAY NIGHT HAUNT TOUR
I was lucky enough to go behind-the-scenes at Dark Hour Haunted House in Dallas back in late 2021, and I enjoyed seeing all the details that go into building a haunt.
MHC offers a similar experience with HellsGate Haunted House on Friday night before their con officially starts. Entrance includes a trip through their haunt with scare actors, drinks, food, and a ton more. It looks like the perfect way to kick off a spooky weekend!
SEMINARS
Other cons I've attended have had limited seminars and make-and-take classes, but MHC loads you up! The smart move is grabbing the super pass so you can attend as many as you want, but both Saturday and Sunday there are tons of classes that are of interest to Halloween lovers, not just haunters:
Costume Distressing
Tips and Tricks for Creating Awesome Halloween Props and Sculptures
Ask the Army (Q&A with HellsGate department heads)
Makeup for the Home Haunter
Make Super Cool Costumes with Thrift Store Finds
COSTUME PARTY
No Halloween con is complete without a Saturday night costume party to make it feel like October 31st! I always enjoy checking these out, and MCH's party is no exception.
More details to come too, but you can check out the basics on their website.
Are you going to Midwest Haunters Convention?
I hope to see you there! I LOVE conventions as a fun way to kick off the Halloween season early and immerse myself in my favorite holiday.
Single day tickets start at $50, or you can grab a weekend pass that gets you into everything for $395. Register to attend.
Stay tuned — in mid-June, I’ll be back sharing everything I did and saw throughout the weekend.
