"How do you find all these Halloween songs?" It's a question I get asked a lot, and I don't have a great answer for it.
Some of it is being a music lover. Some of it is wandering Spotify for new bands and songs. And some of it is just luck.
Over the years, I've created 40+ Halloween playlists for you guys, and while there are some songs that repeat playlist to playlist...no two are the same.
I try to avoid overusing those tunes we all know: "Monster Mash", "This is Halloween, and "Thriller". Partly because...those are for Halloween tourists and partly because there are SO many more songs out there to discover!
So I started gathering some of my faves on a playlist, and today I'm sharing that with you. These are 31 (of course!) of my favorite lesser-known spooky tunes for October. Yes, you'll find one or two you might know...but I'm betting you haven't heard the version I included. (Or maybe heard it in a while.)
I hope you enjoy this and find a new song to add into your annual Halloween playlist!
31 Halloween Songs You've Never Heard
Personal faves:
"Monster Mashup" by Pomplamoose and Tessa Violet - SO many fun songs in there!
"Halloween Birthdaze" by New Beat Fund - I love using this on Instagram to celebrate other Halloween lovers' birthday
"Sam" by The Long Losts - the opening sound alone is worth the listen
"Transylvania Twist" by Bobby "Boris" Pickett and The Crypt-Kickers - did you know this was actually a song, not just a lyric?
"Ten Thirty One" by The Ghost In You - written by a Halloween lover in our own community!
If Spotify is not your preferred method for streaming music, here is the complete playlist so you can create it yourself:
