Here's one more Halloweenification of a TikTok trend for you: and this one I haven't seen others beat me to yet.
Say hello to Pumpkin Spice Crackle Coffee!
This was really fun to put together, and as a tentative pumpkin coffee drinker...I was quite pleased with the flavor.
We'll thank Nikk Alcaraz's pumpkin spice syrup for that.
Crackle coffee isn't complicated — you're essentially making a mocha. The idea is to coat the insides of your glass with chocolate and allow it to harden. Add in your favorite coffee drink, then gentle "crack" your cup to break up the chocolate coating and allow it to mix into your drink.
Here's how I made mine:
How to make a pumpkin spice crackle coffee
Crackle Coffee Ingredients:
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice (recipe below)
2-3 oz espresso or strong coffee
2-3 Tbsp pumpkin syrup (recipe below)
4-6 oz milk of your choice
Pumpkin Pie Spice Ingredients:
2 Tbsp cinnamon
1 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp all spice
Pumpkin Syrup Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup water
1 1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/4 cup pumpkin purée
1 Tbsp pumpkin pie spice
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tap nutmeg
3-4 whole cloves
1/2 Tbsp vanilla extract
Supplies:
Plastic cup you can squeeze (with a lid is idea)
Spatula
Straw
Instructions:
Add all spices for the pumpkin pie spice mixture to an air-tight container. Seal and shake to combine.
To make pumpkin syrup (source), combine water and light brown sugar in a sauce pan. Stir, then bring to a boil.
While the water and sugar mixture is coming to a boil, combine pumpkin and spices in a separate bowl. Once the water and sugar mixture boils, reduce heat and add pumpkin mixture.
Allow to simmer for 10 minutes, then remove from heat, add the vanilla and allow to cool. Strain into an air tight container and keep in the fridge for up to two weeks.
To make the crackle coffee, melt 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips in the microwave at 30-second intervals. (Heat for 30 seconds, stir, heat for 30 seconds, stir.) Continue until mixture is mostly melted, then stir to finish melting all pieces.
When the mixture is smooth, stir in 1 tsp of pumpkin pie spice.
Use a spatula to coat inside of a squeezable plastic cup with the chocolate pumpkin spice mixture. Set coated cup in freezer for 10 minutes to harden the chocolate.
While waiting for the chocolate to harden, brew 2-3 ounces of espresso or strong coffee.
Once chocolate is hardened, add ice, espresso, pumpkin pie syrup (to taste), and milk of your choice to the cup. Stir to combine.
When coffee is assembled, gently squeeze the cup to crack the chocolate. Continue to stir and sip.
And that's how you turn a silly TikTok trend into a silly pumpkin spice TikTok trend. Enjoy! 🎃☕✨

This started with lining a cup with chocolate for a mocha-style drink. What would you add to take this pumpkin drive over the top?
