Welcome to the FIFTH issue of the magazine! When I started Spooky Little Halloween nearly 10 years ago, I never dreamed it would lead me...here.
Self-publishing my own magazine. Selling hundreds of copies annually. Highlighting spooky small businesses and fellow creators.
It is such a privilege to get to create this, year after year, and the only reason I can keep it going is because my readers keep showing up to support it.
If that’s you, THANK YOU. I appreciate you more than you know.
If you haven’t grabbed a copy of this year’s issue yet, you still have time…but copies have been going fast and my first printing is close to being sold out.
Wondering what’s inside? Let me show you…
Inside Spooky Little Halloween—The Magazine 2025
My magazines are full color, and the full size issue (8.5 x 11 inches) this year grew to a whopping 80 pages! I’m still stunned by how much content I had to cut to accommodate all the article and advertisers I had.
Each issue is saddle stitched, and I do a gloss cover and pages, and the entire magazine is printed on 80-pound paper. No wafer-thin magazine pages here!
Inside, you’ll find 12 features for a bit of Halloween fun, from cocktails inspired by rooms at the Winchester Mystery House to Halloween party tips and tricks and even a killer horror movie-inspired road trip.
For the second time, I partnered with an artist in our community to create custom stickers. This year, Keely from Darling Ghoul provided the art, designed to match the elements of the magazine cover.
Subscribers (closed for 2025) received all three stickers, and the bottom design with the string lights is a subscriber exclusive.
All other orders will receive one sticker with their order — either the haunted house design OR the pumpkin patch design.
Doesn’t the black cover look pretty with all the others?
If you don’t already know, my professional career started in journalism. I’ve worked for a couple local publications, but it’s been a blast to take these skills and apply them to my own project, from selling advertising to writing features.
This year’s issue is a ton of fun because it is LOADED with amazing contributors, like Melissa España (splashofspooky.com) who returned for a third year with this killer Halloween for 90s kids feature.
Jorene from Shivers of Delight gave us a tour of her stunning Halloween home.
After taking me on a personal tour earlier this year, Chelsea Celaya from Sips & Spirits/Cheers with Chelsea put together three cocktail recipes inspired by rooms in our beloved Winchester Mystery House.
Alyse Grimm, the ghoul behind thingstodoinsalem.com, wrote a first-timers guide that covers the best things to do in every season in Salem, MA.
Fresh off the publication of her first book, “Scare-cuterie,” Lori Castellon (ghoulatheart.com) returned again with yet another amazing meal for you — this time for all the fall feels.
After a decade of hosting my own parties, I gathered up all my knowledge and shared it in this article full of tips and tricks for making the most of your Halloween party.
I also dropped in a Q&A with Gera Robredo, the Halloween lover behind Señor Scary and the Los Muertos Cemetery yard haunt in Santa Clara, CA.
The phenomenal Britni Jade DIY shared a FULL tutorial on how to sew your own Halloween countdown calendar.
Writer Joseph Peterson jumped in with his best tips for being the coolest house on the block that all the trick-or-treaters will want to stop by.
Penny Snark shared some of her smartest style tips in this one-dress-three-ways feature.
And we closed out this issue with a horror-fying road trip, helmed by Amanda R. Woomer (spookeats.com), to a number of iconic horror movie locations around the U.S.
