Have you already started decorating for Halloween? It's never too early in my book — especially if you're ready for a decor refresh using some new ideas.
Believe it or not: I haven't decorating since moving in 2023! I packed up my Halloween decor in my living room in April as part of my move…and I just wasn't ready to see it again.
The last two Octobers have also been incredibly busy with travel too, and I've chosen to spend my time on experiences over decorating.
This year is looking to be the same, but I have the itch…so I've been spending time browsing the internet for new decorating ideas.
If you need some inspo too, here are a few articles rounding up more than 300 ideas, plus 15 of my very favorites from each one.
100+ Ideas from HGTV
If you’re looking for some unique decorating ideas for all areas of your home, check out this article from HGTV — plus my three favorites below.
Tomato Cage Ghosts
The DIY for these is linked in the article, but I love how simple yet effective these ghosties are. They’re perfect for indoor OR outdoor use, too.
Skeleton Chandelier
Here is another easy DIY you can use to upcycle any chandelier in your home for spooky season. So cute and clever! See the full article.
Vintage Mask WAll
Collected old Halloween masks over the years — or maybe the repo line from Spirit Halloween? Use this gallery wall as inspo for how to display yours. See the full article.
95 Ideas from Good Housekeeping
Want to get crafty? Good Housekeeping has a great round-up of ideas you can make for any decorating style. Check out the article here — plus my three favorites below.
Pressed Flower Pumpkins
This idea is so beautiful and unique! Great for more of a girlie Halloween vibe or as a fun activity to enjoy with kiddos. See the full article.
Spider Wreath
I love seeing how creators upcycle decor, and this spider wreath is no exception — start with a purchase wreath, then add spider webs and plastic spiders. You don’t even need to bust out the hot glue, which is always a win for me. See the full article.
Halloween Lanterns
Paper lanterns are such an easy way to add what I call the Halloween glow to any space. You can also often find these at dollar stores, making them another perfect item to upcycle into something spooky. See the full article.
33 Outdoor Ideas from Martha Stewart
She’s the Queen of Halloween for a reason in our world. Martha’s magazines and sites never disappoint with their never-ending supply of inspo, like this piece focused specifically on outdoor spaces. Check out my three favorites below, then read the article for more.
Cheesecloth Spirits
Another easy, yet effective, idea! Make these using styrofoam mannequin heads and cheesecloth. Hang them by a front door or in your trees to create a ghostly spirit. (They’d be cool floating in an indoor corner too!) See the full article.
Gourd Family
We build snowpeople in the winter, but have you ever thought about doing the same with pumpkins? You could easily do this with a stack of craft or plastic pail pumpkins. Also perfect for those of you growing your own pumpkins! See the full article.
Block Printed Luminaries
This is a personal fave because it brings back memories. Christmas memories, to be exact. Each year on Christmas Eve, my dad always put luminaries out on our front walk, and it was a favorite tradition to help him add sand to the bags, place votive candles inside, and then light them up at dusk.
I also love this idea for Halloween because the design options are never ending. Lean into fall, like these, or keep it strictly spooky with a jack-o-lantern face! See the full article.
29 Front door Ideas from Better Homes & Gardens
As long as we’re thinking outdoors…let’s brainstorm ideas for a killer front door! I’ve done a few over the years (here and here), but these really take it up a level. Check out my three faves, then read the article for more.
Witch Wreath
I love the creativity and versatility of using an inverted witch hat for a front door wreath! This one filled with sunflowers is a perfect blend of Halloween and fall, but you could go so many directions with this idea. See the full article.
Skeleton Wreath
This skeleton wreath is so striking with this oversize acid green bow! Such a great idea for a bold statement on your front door. See the full article.
Crow Halloween Wreath
I love the use of a picture frame in an unexpected shape for this door hanger. Simple, yet effective at making a bold statement. See the full article.

Bubbling Cauldron
There are so many cool ways to create a bubbling cauldron using lights and unexpected materials, like these clear ornaments. This would be cute on a mantle, next to a front door, or as a centerpiece at a party. See the full article.
Broomstick Pendant Light
This lighting idea reminds me of all the stunning decor at Roger’s Gardens last year. This would be stunning for a Halloween dinner party! See the full article.

When in doubt, a flock of paper bats is always the right choice. See the full article.
