The final golden sun of October is falling from the sky. A chill creeps into the air as porch lights flicker to life, and the neighborhood becomes electric.
Behind each and every door, kids are itching to climb into their costumes, grab their pumpkin pails, and hit the streets in search of their favorite candy bar.
The magic of Halloween night is alive once again.
It’s an evening that sneaks up on even the best planner, especially when it comes to dinner. A meal of themed tricks and treats is always on the menu, and Lori Castellon (she/her) from ghoulatheart.com whipped up this set of recipes for the 2023 issue of Spooky Little Halloween—The Magazine that are not only easy to make — they’re also a feast for the eyes.
A candy corn feast, that is!
Below you’ll find the recipes featured in the magazine, then I’ll be sending you over to ghoulatheart.com to grab the recipe itself. Lori’s site is killer, and I encourage you to browse her archives and see everything she’s created!
Candy Corn Colada
We kick off our candy corn feast with a drink that’s easy to toss in the blender and layer in a glass. With pineapple, mango, a bit of lime, banana, and even coconut cream, this pina colada-inspired drink will transport you to a candy corn colored island.
You can also keep it spiritless as a mocktail or add a bit of rum to turn it into a cocktail!
Candy Corn Caprese
There are few things I love more than a fresh caprese salad, especially in the summer, but this candy corn colored take is easy and perfect for Halloween night.
And I love how easy this is to put together — just a bit of layering, and you’ve got your candy corn-inspired dish. If you’re creating individual servings, you can always shred the basil on top of the salad skewers too.
Candy Corn Pizza
No, this isn’t that viral Twitter monstrosity from 2017. This is an actually-edible candy corn pizza I think you’ll love!
Lori kept her recipe vegetarian, using roasted sweet potatoes for the orange layer, but you could easily make the swap for pepperoni if you prefer a bit of protein. Admittedly, this one is still on my to-make list. Maybe this year?
Candy Corn Cupcakes
And because there isn’t enough sugar on October 31st, we obviously need these simple and loveable candy corn cupcakes! Because who could say no to one of these?
Top them off with an actual candy corn for a bit of spooky fun.
Candy Corn Decor
And finally, if you’re hosting a group on Halloween night and need a little custom decor to go with your candy corn feast, check out this tablescape, including decor ideas for a wreath, centerpiece, candles, and napkin rings.
