Introducing Killer Halloween Party: A New Home for Party Planning
While you've been enjoying your Summerween vacation, I've been quietly working behind-the-scenes on something brand new for you.
If you've been reading Spooky Little Halloween for a while, you already know party planning has always been one of my favorite things to write about here. The themes posts. The decor roundups. The activities guides. Some of that content has been here for almost a decade, and a few of those posts are still some of the most-read things on this entire site.
That popularity taught me something. Halloween party planning isn't just a topic I enjoy writing about — it's a topic a lot of you are genuinely hungry for. You're not just looking for Halloween inspiration in general. You're trying to throw an actual party, and you want real help doing it.
Back in 2017, I built something just for that. Today, it’s getting a major refresh.
Meet the all-new Killer Halloween Party, live now at killerhalloweenparty.com.
What Killer Halloween Party actually is
Killer Halloween Party is a sister site to Spooky Little Halloween — a dedicated home for everything related to planning and hosting a Halloween party. Not Halloween in general. Not costumes for trick-or-treating or recipes for a quiet night in. Specifically the experience of throwing a party people remember.
It's built around seven core topics that cover every decision that goes into a great Halloween party: theme, invitations, decor, food and drinks, activities, costumes, and logistics. Each one has its own dedicated page on the site, written to give you a real framework for thinking through that part of your planning, not just a list of pretty pictures.
There's also a blog — I'm calling it the Party Planning Files — where I'm publishing new content all season long. Some of it is practical and framework-driven: how to set a budget you'll actually stick to, how to choose a theme you'll still be excited about in October, how to build a planning timeline that doesn't fall apart in the final two weeks. Some of it is pure inspiration: theme roundups, invitation ideas, decor you can build from things you already own. And some of it is personal — stories from my own party planning life, including plenty from Halloweenie Roast, the annual Halloween party I hosted for 10 years.
And at the center of it all is a guidebook. Killer Halloween Party: The Complete Guidebook is self-published and available on Amazon right now — twelve chapters covering the entire planning process from your first decision to your last, with integrated worksheets so you're not just reading, you're actually building your plan as you go. It's everything I've learned about Halloween party planning across 15+ years, put into one place.
Why I built it instead of just writing more posts here
Here's the honest answer: some things deserve their own home.
Spooky Little Halloween has always been about the full breadth of loving this holiday — decor, recipes, costumes, books, music, small businesses, the whole world of October. That's not changing. This is still where I'll be writing about all of it.
But party planning is its own thing. It's not just inspiration — it's a process. It has a timeline, a budget, a sequence of decisions that build on each other. The people looking for that kind of help are in a specific mindset, and they deserve a site built entirely around helping them get from "I want to throw a party" to "I just had the best Halloween of my life and so did everyone I invited."
Killer Halloween Party is that site. It's not replacing anything here — it's giving the party planning side of what I do the dedicated space it's always deserved.
Who Killer Halloween Party is for
If you're the kind of Halloween lover who starts thinking about October in July, this is for you.
If you've thrown a casual Halloween gathering before and want to know what it would take to make it genuinely memorable, this is for you.
If you've been hosting for years and want a more intentional system instead of just winging it again, this is for you.
And if you've never thrown a real Halloween party in your life but you've always wanted to be the friend who does, this might be exactly the nudge you need.
Where to find everything
The site: killerhalloweenparty.com — start with the seven topic pages if you're just getting oriented, or head straight to the blog if you want to start reading right away.
The blog: The Party Planning Files, found right on the site. New posts published regularly through the fall, organized into three categories: Plan (frameworks and timelines), Inspire (ideas and inspiration), and Behind the Party (real stories from my own Halloween hosting experience).
The guidebook: Killer Halloween Party: The Complete Guidebook is self-published and available now on Amazon. If you want the complete system in one place — worksheets included — this is where to start.
The newsletter: If you want one thing you can do every month to make your Halloween party better, all year long, join The Guest List. It's the one place I'm sending planning advice on a regular schedule, even in the off-season. (And I’m off-set this send from my other newsletters for you!)
I'm genuinely excited about this one. It's been a passion project for a long time, and it feels like exactly the right moment to give it a real home.
If you've ever wanted to be the person throwing the Halloween party instead of just attending one, I built this for you.
Come say hi. 🎃
