Spooky Country Playlist

The old adage is true: you can take a girl out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of the girl.

Fun fact: every member of my family was born in a different state. And while we called Houston home for nearly 30 years all together, I’m the only native Texan in my family.

Being raised there by two Midwestern parents was a unique experience. Now that I live in the Upper Midwest, I’m only starting to realize how unique.

And while there were a lot of pieces of Texas I was very glad to leave behind when I moved away…the love for country music is engrained in me, for better or worse. (Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, and Shaboozey are recent personal faves, along with listening to Beyonce’s “Cowboy Carter” nonstop since it was released.)

This is a playlist I’ve been adding to for years and meaning to share. I parsed it back down to just 31 songs for this post, but I’m sure I’ll have more picks to add.

The list includes some classics (Patsy Cline’s “Walking After Midnight”), some popular 90s hits (Reba McEntire’s “That’s The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia”), and even some modern and offbeat picks.

Oh, and one killer cover of “Monster Mash.” (Find more here.)

So if country music AND spooky things are your vibe, enjoy!

You can also give TuneMyMusic.com a try! While you do need an account, it’s free to use to transfer up to 500 songs per year when transferring playlists between streaming services.

Not an ad, just a cool resource a friend shared with me that I’m passing on to you.

What song would you add to this playlist?

Drop your picks in the comments! I’d love to add more.
